Place Story Submission

Do you have a place that is special to you and your family? A place story (full, focused, or essay) may be about a location such as a neighborhood, town, city, county, region.

A place focused story or essay may also be about a long-established, local institution such as a school, church, business, organization.

STEP 1: Complete the Application Form below.
STEP 2: Complete your Story in Word following the Story Template provided here or labeled as an essay.

a. 3,000-5,000 words for a full story (see Place Full Story Template); 1,500-3,000 words for a focused story (see Place Focused Story Template); 500-1,500 words for an essay (see below)
b. Include related images and maps in the document
c. Attach your Story to the Application Form and Submit

STEP 3: Star Hitchers™ will let you know if your story has been selected to post.
STEP 4: If selected, we will produce an edited version that you approve.
STEP 5: Star Hitchers™ will post your story.

Full story: A full story is a comprehensive narrative of the history, current situation, and future possibilities of the place that is the subject of the story, following the template provided.

Focused story: A focused story is a narrative of a particular aspect of the place, an event, a tradition, or a special characteristic, following the template provided. A Place Focused Story may be about a location (neighborhood, town, city, county, region) or institution (church, school, business, organization).

Essay: An essay is template-free, but be sure to include why the subject is of interest to you and how you collected your information. Label your story as Essay above its title.
